Profile
Dr Emily Chen (Optometrist) graduated with a Bachelors of Optometry with First Class Honours at the University of New South Wales in 2013 and began working at Eyecare Kids in 2016.
She underwent postgraduate training in Behavioural Optometry and Vision Therapy through the Optometric Extension Program (OEP) at the Australian College of Behavioural Optometry. In her final year of optometry, she undertook a placement at OMNI Eye Centre in Atlanta USA working alongside ophthalmologists experienced in treating ocular diseases.
Emily Chen started her career in a full-scope optometry practice in the regional NSW which began her interest in children’s vision, behavioual optometry and night lenses (Ortho-K).
Having myopia and being frustrated as a child finding out she needed to update her glasses every year, Emily has been passionate about slowing down the progression of myopia since the beginning of her career. Guided by the latest research and years of experience, she is able to prescribe night lenses, MiYOSMART, low-dose atropine eye drops, Misight lenses and red light therapy tailored to each child’s needs.

Beyond Work
Emily is an active member in her local church and is a busy mum of two. She enjoys spending time with her family at the beach.
